Hello All,
I am thinking of putting my son on the gluten and casein exclusion diet. I would like to hear about people's experiences with the diet, both good and bad. Feedback from adults on the "higher-functioning" end of the autistic spectrum would be especially appreciated.
General questions are :
1. How long did the "die off" period last. How did you cope with the increased severity of symptoms?
2. How do you limit diet with other siblings in the house? Does everyone have to go on it to be successful?
3. Has anyone become worse off because of the diet?
4. How did you start the diet? Was it gradual elimination or instant change?
5. What do you do if the autistic person's diet is limited to high GFCF foods almost exclusively?
Please e-mail all personal experiences, both good and bad, to wer1uni@hotmail.com. I need as much information as I can get from parents and high functioning perspectives. Please don't send book links I have these already, I'd like unbiased feedback not edited or highlighted case studies geared towards an authors viewpoint.
By the way, Autism Update (http://www.autisms.org/forum/) is a great information and news resource containing headline links on autism. Check it out!
Thanks,
Cliff :D
