Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out here...

I'm about to begin working with a 4yo boy (I'm settled in Vancouver, for the most part, enjoying school, etc.), and I'm to be lead therapist. I'm nervous, of course, as this is the second child I've worked with and he is more advanced than my last child. I also was not lead before.

I've met him once, and will be babysitting him and his brother on Thursday evening - planning to have that time be basically a fun time with singing and games and playing with toys. I don't even want to go NEAR the therapy room, except to maybe check out the layout and see what's there.

I've read over the profiles they've put together - they began a home program back at the beginning of the summer, using Catherine Maurice's manual and some stuff from Autism Partnership to outline the programs, but will be starting with WEAP come October - and see a number of things where strict DTT will likely help a LOT.

The thing is, I think a more 'naturalized' approach will be best for cleaning up this child's language skills. So I'm wondering about AVB. Does anyone have experience in combining the two (absolutely COMPLETELY related and not exclusive of one another) approaches within a home program? I want to sort of plan things out and have a course of action decided on myself before our initial workshop with WEAP.

This is kind of going to be my testing ground, I guess - the place where I really find out if I know as much as I think I do! (I know - we NEVER know as much as we think we do... but I want to make a good showing for this consultant, at least.)

I need to be able to present my version of a suitable program to the consultant, so that she can then make modifications based on her experience.

My PROBLEM is that I can't locate a copy of the Sundberg & Partington book via the library, which means I'll have to buy a copy. Since it's a $50 book, I'd rather not have to put out at this time (moving is expensive, and I still have to find a permanent place of residence, not to mention pay tuition and buy text books). Are there decent web resources available on the 'how-to' of AVB? What about a cheaper printed resource?

I have about three weeks to get things together, I hope you all can help!
