View Full Version : Terrorist Plane Hijackings & Crashes
OK, so far two plans have crashed into the World Trade Center. Then one plane crashed into the Pentagon, which led to the FAA closing all commercial flights down. Then they had a plane go down in Pittsburgh, I believe, and then there has been another plane to go down without confirmation of where it has crashed. The one I mentioned in PA has been rumored to maybe have been shot down as it may have been headed to the White House or DC area. My sister called me and I could tell she had been crying as she had just watched the towers crash down in NY. What hit her was the fact that there was a day care in the bottom of the building. Grownups dieing isn't a good thing, but young children really tug at the heart strings. I have been almost too busy this morning as I work in satellite communications and have had several hot jobs walk in the door today. Now I have the nightmare of trying to get stuff moved from place to place, tested and etc. without knowing when the airports will open back up. I guess they will make the provisions though if they really want the stuff. Speaking about that, I need to get back to work, what do you folks think or have to add?

With all the things that has been happening this morning with the terrorist attack, it has got me thinking. If something like this were to happen in the small town in Louisiana that I live, would the adults at the school my 3 year autistic son attends know what to do with him. I was wondering if there was any one that knows where I can purchase an Autistic ID Bracelet for him to wear. I've never seen such a thing but I would think it would be like a diabetic bracelet. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Dawn,
Medical ID Bracelets (http://www.diabeticdrugstore.com/store/default.asp?)
This website allows you to buy and personalize any kind of medical identification bracelets. It allows for a certain number of characters. They are only $9.95 each. They also carry "tags" that could be attached to a necklace or bracelet. Hope this helps.

The school my 3 year old daughter attends will be getting a letter from me thanking them for the way they handled the events of the day. We live in Maryland just outside Washington, DC. Her school called me to let me know the schools would be closing. I opted to pick her up instead of letting her ride the bus home. An hour later for a 15 mile drive and a stop at the gas station I made it to the school. Calm and organized teachers and staff greeted me at the door. Many at the school have family and friends working at the Pentagon and I am sure they wanted to be home with their families. They were making sure the kids continued as if it was a normal day.
My thoughts are with all the families whose lives were touched by the tragic events of the day.

Well, this is a day that will stick in my mind for the rest of my life. I can only try to imagine what it must be like for those of you who live in the US and have had this disgusting crime against humanity take place in your own backyards.
I was awoken this morning by my husband who said there was something terrible on TV and to come and have a look. I was not prepared for what I saw...it chilled me to the bone.
I found it hard to tear myself away from the TV to get ready for work, but eventually I did. I drove to work with a very real sense of foreboding, and sadness. The usual early morning peak hour traffic jams were just not there today, there were much less vehicles on the roads this morning. It even seemed eerie here, like everyone has had some effect even though it happened thousands of miles away.
Every radio station had something on air, every TV station had live crosses to the US, every newspaper had a headline.
When I finally arrived at work, many of my colleagues had been up most of the night watching the events unfold. Later, when I went out for lunch, shopkeepers looked weary, and pale, they had also been up all night.
This tragedy was all we Australians could talk about today, and it will be all we will talk about for the next who knows how long...
Our thoughts are with you all,
karen

My 38 year old husband has AS, and worked on the 25th floor of World Trade Center Tower 2 as an engineer (what else?).
He was not at work that morning. In fact, because he needed structure, his boss had wanted him in by 9 AM every morning. The planes crashed at 8:45 or so, and right after 9.
He has been very robotic about the whole thing, but I of course cried, thanking God he was not there. He is fascinated by it all, but of course not emotional.
