There is going to be an Autism & Play Conference in Laguna Niguel, California on November 8th, 2001.
The conference will explore the difficulities in play that children
within the autism spectrum face. We will look at developing effective approaches to facilitation play and avenues to teach children with autism how to play.
A look at autism and early development, the characteristics and
patterns of play and teaching play techniques and themes will be
covered.
Participants will be given the opportunity to put to practice some
the techniques learned in small group settings.
Speaker: Lisa Mathieson is a Play Therapist and Special Needs
Consultant. She has worked with children on the autistic spectrum for many years and is involved in the development of integrated play groups throughout Scotland and parts of Europe.
