Are a god send, better concentration and lessens hyperactivity.I dont know if its the warm water or the salt but its sooooo relaxing. Also if you are prone to ear infections warm up some salt and pour into a sock or cloth bag,it helps pain and draws out fluid.just my 2 cents!

I am so glad I finally found some one who has actually done this. My son is 4 years old and does not talk. He babbles and tries but it just isn't there, since I started the bathes a coulte weeks ago he has started to babble alot more and is even trying to sing the Thomas the Train song, and Spongebob. It's just too cute to actually see him trying to talk. How long have you been giving them and how often?

We do the epsom salt baths with Catherine. She helped me mix some fragrance and some food coloring into the epsom salts in quart size ziploc bags and we call them her bath salts. She chooses a color of bath salts to mix into her bathwater. She gets sort of wound up and the epsom salt bath seems to calm her down before bedtime. She often fights getting into the tub, but once she is in, she will often stay until the bathwater gets cold. I think the epsom salts actually have an effect on her.

I started my son with Epsom Salt baths about a week ago...he loves his bath and its always been a part of his routine so adding the salts haven't been a big deal...but his speech is starting to become clearer. I wasn't sure if it was the salts or just my imagination. Could it be the salts???

I read something about some of our kids being deficient in sulfate and phenols building up in their bodies because of this deficiency. I tried MSM to help Catherine with this and it seemed to help her a lot, but unfortunately she developed an allergy to MSM, so we had to stop using it. Epsom salt baths are another way to supply sulfates through the skin.

How old is your son?

He'll be four in July. I've also disolved Epsom salts into lotion, that I put on him in the morning but I've only been doing this for a few days.

I read about this on the following website:

Hi Kay,
Thanks, that is a really interesting website. How did you make the epsom salt lotion? I tried making it one time by dissolving epsom salts in hot water and mixing that into a hypoallergenic lotion Catherine could use, but it was a total mess. The lotion turned into clumps of goo. It was disgusting. It looked sort of like cottage cheese. When I tried to use it on her, I couldn't get the clumps out. You didn't have that problem, did you? Do you think it could have been the lotion?

Kirkman's sells the TD version (which is easier for us since we are a shower family)

My 2yr old son was just diagnosed with autism. This is very new to me. I am trying to do everything I can for him. This is the first I have heard of using epsom salt baths. How much should I put in his bath?
