Has anyone heard about the recent findings re: Speech Gene?
I was sent an article about it , pretty interesting stuff.
It seems that scientists say they've found a gene that underlies speech & language.
The gene, (found on Chromosome 7), supports the theory "that language is acquired and generated by specific neural circuitry in the brain, rather than by general brain facilities".

Apparently people included in the study (in England), who had language difficulties had a "visibly odd version of Chromosome 7".
It was also found that the "variant gene affects speech, but with knock-on effects in non-verbal ability".

Interesting for those of us whose kids have severe language problems. This chromosome has come up in lots of other studies relating to autism, as well.

Maybe we're getting closer to finding at least SOME answers....
