Its called Baby Babble www.talkingchild.com I actually got it on amazon.com though, anyway it focuses on sounds instead of words so its easier for her to imitate.Theres a scene with a popping ball toy and the voice over says pop pop pop pop.My daughter saw the same toy the other day and said pop pop!(they use alot of current toys)

Does anyone know of anything else?

HI Polly,
Here is a link you can check out. My son is verbal, although behind, so I haven't tried these DVDs yet.

I give Baby Bumble Bee's two thumbs up!!

It increased my daughter language double in just one month. She's five now and still enjoys watching them with her younger brother.

I have had Baby Babble for some time now. I play it for my son every day. I e-mailed the two spech pathologists and told them that they truly represent speech and literacy development for babies as well as non-verbal children. I recommend this DVD highly!

What age group would you recommend Baby Bumble Bee. ...and what cognitive level?

Thanks, Adrienne

The video says you can start as early as 4 months old. Any age really. They have great visuals that keep the childs attention. Both my kids love it. I got it for my daughter a few months after she was diagnosed at age 2.

They are very reasonably priced too.

I'm currently using baby babble and baby bumble bee with my daughter(18mo)
Before I knew about these movies,I had my son watch(and still does)rock-n-learn.Great catergories and uses different style of graphics,in the letter sounds movie it shows a mouth in the corner of the screen for correct pronunciationhttp://www.rocknlearn.com/index.htm

I like to throw these in the mix just in case my kids get tired of the format of bumblebee/babble/baby einstein.

hi,

I am very encouraged with your success stories here.

my niece almost 3 yrs old has most of the symptoms of an autistic child. 2 days ago we got her diagnosed as autistic.
1) almost no eye contact. lost in her own world.
2) likes to do repetitive stuff like banging the door then opening the drawer over and over again.
3) no interaction with any of the kids her age. NON verbal.

right now, she loves to watch barney video (same one(s) over and over).

would these videos be helpful to my child?
which ones should I start with?

any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Hi Varun,
If your niece likes Barney videos, why not get her another Barney video that is similar, but not the same as the ones she watches now? I did something like this with my daughter so she could learn new concepts in a way she would accept. I found that she would watch a video over and over for a while and then be ready to move on to a different one if it was not too different. There are several Barney videos that are educational, and they all follow a similar routine that may be comforting to your niece. You probably can check out some different videos from the local library to see if she likes them.

My son Thomas is one month shy of turning 3. He is no-verbal! He makes a lot of different sounds, noises, ear piercing screams, I'm wondering out of all that were mentioned which would be my best bet. I've researched baby bumblebee & I'm not sure it will engage him? Now if Spongebob came out with a DVD for non-verbal tots w/ autism I would be in business! Any input is appreciated! Thanks Carrieskids2
