Is what I used to think. When my son was first dx I was bombarted with the whole allergy thing.I gave it a true shot and saw no difference. So I figured it was a bunch of baloney until my 3 week old daughter started having bloody stools,I took her to her pediatrician and he switched her to soy,big mistake because the next diaper was nothing but blood,I panicked and drove the baby and the diaper to the doctors office and busted in quite angry(this was the same doctor who when I took my son in 3 seperate times for head banging and no language and I told him this is autism! He said I was paranoid and I later found out he wanted me to go to counseling  )Anyway it turns out she has an allergy, not to casein or gluten but to whey and soy.She has been through tons of tests and trials and I am comfortable with these results
She has been on a strict diet and in Jan was dx w/autism.I had my son tested again and did the elimination diet and he has no food allergies.
I think some kids with autism have allergies and some dont, but you must look into it.Also,it may not be the casein or gluten,it may be something you are not looking at like whey or soy.Just my 2 cents!
