Hello,
I have a friend who is 25 years old. He can communicate only using small words in simple sentances. He talks in a baby voice as well. When writing he can use bigger words, and usually spells correctly. However he cannot do any math.
He also has some other interesting characteristics, He sleeps with a stuffed animal, and keeps toys in his room. He has a large collection of movies and music... all from his childhood. He has over 10 copies of the rocky trilogy, cassette and DVD and will buy the movie every time a "new" or "remastered" movie is released. The same with "Karate Kid" "Back to the future" "Indiana Jones" and many many others.
If his mind gets set on something he wants, he will do nothing but talk about it untill he buys it. He also follows a strict schedule, Waking every morning at 7:00 and going to bed at 10:00. He also eats his meals on a time schedule as well
Can anyone tell me if this may be autism? maybe obsessive compulsive? He has never been "diagnosed" and I would like to know.
His major goal in life is to maybe one day be married. Is there any way I could help him prepare for this?
