----------------------------------------------
-ASD kids have 1/2 the amount of iodine as NT kids

-fast food does not use iodized salt, so don't think you're getting
your iodine from french fries at McDonald's

-low muscle tone related to low levels of potassium, but be cautious
to supplement with potassium because the heart is also a muscle

-good multivitamins include Super NuThera, Spectrum Complete, ASD-
Plex, Brainchild, Awaken Nutrition, Child Essence

-the larger the fish the more mercury, but guess who's at the top of
the food chain? us.

-if one twin has autism there is about a 50% chance the other will;
often the twin with the smaller birth weight will have autism
in the case where one has it and one doesn't

-aluminum increases mercury toxicity

-ASD kids have 2-4 times higher use of antibiotics

-dairy products make kids less able to excrete mercury

-common in ASD kids to have high copper, low zinc; so supplement zinc
at 5-10x the RDA, and avoid copper

-according to ARI results, 73% of chelated kids got better

-TD-DMSA is available now (through Lee Silsby Lab), but the TD
version is NOT fda approved like the oral version is

-TTFD is vitamin B1, and stinks like a skunk. If you are going to use
it, use it after you've chelated with DMPS or DMSA

-Our children are canaries in a coal mine

-David Kirby on Suzanne Wright: "She cares deeply, she's open minded"

-Keep up the momentum that Kirby and Imus started by calling/writing
the local papers, radio and tv stations

-Old model of autism: genes cuase it, it's brain based

-New model of autism: environmentally triggered, genetically
influenced, metabolic abnormalities play big role

-78% of the chemicals in greatest use in America are COMPLETELY
UNTESTED

-UN Report says 2/3 of world ecosystems on planet are in dire trouble

-Autism is not just a behavior thing that requires behavior therapy.
These kids have chronic inflammation.

-good natural anti-inflammatories include: curcumin, quercitan, EFAs,
melatonin

-another study similar to Jill James study is being done, this time
with TD-NAC - talk to Dr Bock if you want to participate in the study

-nebulized glutathione - one parent had her son pretend he was a
fireman, she put on his fireboots and firehat and had him breathe
into the nebulizer to make him like doing it

-ASD kids often dump lots of lead too, not just mercury (lots of
other heavy metals too)

-the "quintet" is MB-12, folinic acid, TMG, glutathione and TTFD

-transfer factor is good for kids with constant infections

-Doreen Granpeesheh believes that the behavioral therapy should be
coupled with biomedical

-Kimberly Green is looking for photos or videos of vax injured kids
for a documentary (914)713-1103 or vaccinefilm@...

-antimony really impacts methylation

-We are what we eat. But we also are what we can't excrete.

-A study with kids over 5 years old, using probiotics, showed that it
cut back on allergies and asthma by 50%!

-About 5% of ASD kids have celiacs

-Formic acid combats carpenter ants

-When kids start recovering they fall into 1 of 3 subgroups: OCD,
Tourettes, or ADHD

-Coastal Compounding knows how to make the MB-12/NAC/Folinic Acid
shot that does not sting (or at least stings less)

-HBOT demonstrates increased oxygen in the brain and renewed cell
growth of brain. In addition, studies show areas that previously had
poor blood flow have increased blood flow.

-Boyd Haley's chelation protocol uses selenium, high dose vit C, EFAs
and zinc

-Clathrating agents do not have enough studies; plus they could be
contaminated already with heavy metals themselves.

-Removing potatos from Dr Kartizel's son's diet cured his OCD

-One camp says you need diet; the other says you need enzyme; reality
is you need both

-65% of kids cannnot digest lactose

-large percent of our children have parasites

-chromium stabilizes blood sugar

-sea salt is low in iodine

-good probiotics: probiotic gold, primal defense, culturelle, natren

-pressed wood can leach formaldehyde for up to 10 years

-Dr Kartzinel treated a family member with autism with a protocol
very similar to what he uses for autistic kids, and that family
member is almost recovered from alzheimers!

-good natural immune builder: chinese skull cap, also circumin

-good book by Dr Baker - Detox and Healing

-Tylenol (acetominophin) ties up the sulfation system, with helps
protect and detox. So when doctors give tylenol right before a
vaccination, there goes the protection and detox abilities

-When mercury attaches itself to 2 cysteines and they bond, that's a
really strong bond that is hard to break, which is why we don't
necessarily want to add cysteine (or NAC) when the child still has a
lot of mercury in him/her

-girls either get a "light dusting" of autism, or they're really
really hard to recover

-good antioxidants: vit C, taurine, vit E, betacarotene

-good for sulfation: epsom salt, IV/oral/nasal/TD glutathione, NAC,
glucosamine sulfate

-glutathione is critical for t-cell production

-Dr Levinson makes the compounding pharmacy test each lot of
chelating agent before they send it to him/his patients because DMSA
and DMPS are such strong binders to metal they could get contaminated
easily

This really sounds much like a commercial to sell various treatments more than anything, to be perfectly honest.

And who says that it is a fact that we're "sick" if we're on the spectrum?

And I can tell you right now, being a twin on the spectrum: I defy that thought of the lower birth-weight being the one on the spectrum.

Good nutrition is important for everyone, and supplementing without measurement can cause far more troubles than deficiencies often do, especially if you go on the premise that our physiology has problems excreting things. Having too much of a good thing is possible with many vitamins and minerals, and overdoses can cause permanent damage in many ways, up to and including death. That's quite possible with something as innocent as water, if you get enough of it, because the electrolyte balances get far enough out of whack to cause real problems, as severe as death in some cases.

Was this a national conference? It is interesting to read the notes. I don't find myself very much in sync with DAN, so I don't read their stuff. But, it is informative to get a briefing of what that organization is thinking and researching. Interesting note "our children are canaries in the coal mine".

These notes were taken by someone who went to the recent Boston DAN, which I guess is a national conference.
