Hi. I new to this cuntry. I'am sorry if my ennglish is bad but I want to know something. I have my period tommorrow and what the hell is a period!

Hi 14 year old,

Another name for getting your period is menstruation. Once your body becomes able to carry a baby, your ovaries make an egg each month and your uterus gets ready to grow the baby by making a thick lining inside called an endometrium. If the egg is fertilized by a sperm from a man, it grows into a baby inside your uterus. If the egg is not fertilized, then the uterus sheds its lining each month. This is menstruation, or getting your period. It looks like blood coming out of your vagina. Most ladies use a special pad stuck inside their panties to catch the menstrual blood so it will not stain their clothes. Some people call the pads sanitary napkins. Other ladies use a tampon inserted into the vagina to catch the menstrual blood. Pads and tampons are called feminine hygiene products if you are looking for them in a store.
