Hi.

I've been married for 18 years and have a very high functioning Aspergers kid. My husband seems to have some of the traits. I spoke to a specialist today about my son, and when she heard my description of my husband, she said, "That really sounds like someone on the spectrum."

On the one hand this validates something I've suspected for years, and on the other hand it was a hard thing to hear. We've been having some problems and this doesn't make me feel any better.

Is there anyone out there who is dealing with this, or who knows of an online support group to join? I'd also be interested in an actual group to meet with if there's one in the San Diego area.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Judy,

Wow, you sound just like me. My son has recently been dx with Aspergers and the more I find out, the more all my husband's little "quirks" make sense!! My son is much more severely affected than my husband, but there are still a lot of similiarities, especially with some of the sensory issues.

I also live in the San Diego area (Poway) and am searching for answers and help. Maybe we can connect and share experiences and resources.

Hi,

I live in Australia and we just recently had a workshop/meeting with Dr Tony Attwood Clinical Psychologist with 25 people who have partners with ASD. It was really great. Dr Attwood travels to US frequently. You can look up his itinerary on www.tonyattwood.com Another site for people with ASD parterns is www.faaas.org

I myself do no have a partner with ASD (we have a son 14 with AS), but I belong to the Asperger's Syndrome Support Network (Qld) Inc, in Brisbane Australia and have a lot of dealings with families and ASD.

During my single life I have had several male friends who I would identify today as AS and my questions is why do we get drawn to these people, is it because they are different and we would like to experience the adventure of difference? What is the fascination with it. As far as I am concerned I find AS people very interesting and enjoy their company.

Greeting from Downunder
Stefanie:) :)
