Hi,
We are considering getting our son on Prednisone treatment at his next Doctor's visit. I am hoping someone on the board may have some experience with it and share their story with me as we are concerned about the side effects and wonder if it's worth trying. My son is "regressive" in as he spoke better at 3-4 yrs old than he does now. Please feel free to email me. Thanks to anyone who can help.
Terry:)

Hi,

I have personal experience being on Prednisone for complications of Crohn's disease (like Colitis) an auto-immune disorder. I would call it "the Devl's Juice" as it did help me with the terrible inflammation, and was therefore life-saving, but it also gave me tremendous side effects, such as mood swings, panic attacks, weight gain and others.

I have two children in the autism spectrum (15 boy, girl, 9) and it has never been suggested for either of them, but I do know of one child with severe pica problem (eating of non-food items) that this was prescribed for, not sure of the connection. In his case, it did not seem to have an effect one way or the other on the oica, so they took him off the prednisone.

Why is the doctor suggesting it to you? What is it supposed to be treating as far as symptoms?

Judy
