Hi Nicole,
Yeah, they told me the same thing with Catherine at her school. I think they said there is some theory that kids in pull-ups are harder to train because pull-ups are too good at containing the mess.
I sent her in underwear like they asked and also sent two extra complete sets of clothes and extra underwear, just in case. They helped her change at school and bagged up the clothes and I soaked and washed them when she came home. A few times they called me to bring extra clothes, but usually three sets were enough. One time she peed while sitting in her teacher's lap and the teacher had to go home to change.
What I did at home with Catherine was to put her on the little potty quite often but for relatively short times and played short games with her sitting there. There were these training pants with nylon overpants that were part of them and we used them at home because she refused to wear pull-ups anymore, even at night. Hope this helps.

This just makes me wonder. Don't you think our kids are embarrassed when they visibly wet themselves? I don't know about a 4 year old in a specialized preschool setting. It may not be that big of a deal. I don't think Austin cared at 4, but who knows what was thinking or feeling. I just wonder if the teachers consider it. What do you think?
Austin (8 years old next month) from time to time has an accident at school. He is embarrassed and upset at home when it happens, so I am sure he is at school. I wonder how they handle it.

My son is 5 almost 6 and is relatively pee potty trained but absoltuley refuses to poop on the potty we just recently got him to sit on the toilet. He just wont do it so I dont think 4 is too horrible I think it all depends on the child.

It was very hard to get my 4 yr old potty trained but somehow i did it. plus my son's school stayed on top of him to go. what i did was put underwear on my son it was very messy but thats the only way he got it the pullups are equal to diapers they dont work. when i was training him i would be after him every 30 minutes to go potty ( i mean every 30 minutes) i guess he got tired of me interrupting blues clues so finally he started going when he would go potty i would express my happiness by rolling on the floor, singing, clapping my son got a kick out of this he also like to watch the water go down the potty when it flushes dont give up please i know its hard

My daughter Emily is 4, she is high functioning, but we have a long way to go. She isn't potty trained, not because we haven't tried. She has ever since she was born, had bowel problems. She doesn't know when she has to go and when she has gone. We are taking her to a specialist for this.
I am afraid that school will give us hell because she is still in diapers. If I have to go and change her 2-3 times a day, I will, No problem.
Lets see what excuses they will give me.
