I'm looking for experiences/reactions to RDI therapy. It's pretty expensive and their website shows glowing acolades. I have a 3 year old with mild ASD. I've bought the books, but I would like some input from anyone who's tried it. Thanks, DShort.

DShort,
I am doing R.D.I with my son who is 5 years old and has P.D.D. and A.D.H.D. We just started last mth, but I have seen some small changes in Joey's behavior. He is making more eye contact with me and at the dinner table the other night he pointed at me and said " mommy " with REALLY good eye contact. You could almost see that there was a light that went off in his head when he said it. It felt like he had finally seen me for the first time.

Before we got into R.D.I we were involved in A.B.A. As a Registered Nurse with 20 plus years in the field of developmental disabilities I am convinced the R.D.I. therapy is going to be best for my son. I am so excited about the therapy I am thinking about becoming a certified consultant myself. Everything Dr. Gutstein has researched makes MEDICAL sense to me. I KNOW they use this type of therapy with stroke patients and it is effective. It also fits into my family life nicely. My husband is getting more involved with Joey. 90% of fathers get involved in R.D.I.

By the way I know it is frightfully expensive and that does bother me to a certain extent, but I am TOTALLY convinced it is worth all the hard work, effort and money. You should at least get the D.V.D. and watch it before you decide if it is for you. We made Joey an R.D.I lab room in our house and have a consultant. If you want more info you can log into the R.D.I midatlantic yahoo group. There are families on there that have been involved longer then I have been and you can ask them more questions.
