Hi Lacey,
I have not tried the ketogenic diet personally, but I know someone who did for her eighteen month old daughter who was having two to five seizures per day despite trying every epilepsy medicine known to science. I know it seemed to be working for her, but I have not heard from her for a while. How many seizures per day is your son having? What else have you tried?

My son can have anywhere from 1 to 30 seizures per day. He has Complex Partial Seizures, Autonomic Seizures, Tonic Clonic-Grand Mal, Myoclonic and Atypical Abscence Type Seizures. Alot of them i don't see because he has them while he is sleeping as well. We have been through many EEG's and MRI'S without an answer to why he is having them. There is no indication where they are coming from in the brain. He has been on all the meds that could work for him without any success. Right now He is taking Lamictal, Topomax, Risperdal, Clonidine, Diastat and Clonazapam. The Lamictal works for behavior only, the Topomax so far has had no effect, the Diastat and Clonazapam is used for Emergency only. Which for the last few months I use very frequently. And there was an incident this last month where after using the Diastat and Clonazapam he still continued to convulse and I almost had to take him back into the ER. Where they don't take me seriously and my son turns into a monster everytime I take him there. Needless to say I'm exhausted. Right now I'm waiting to get him into see another Neuroligist. The last one decided it was time for retirement.
