Hi, my name is Charmaine. I'm married, and have a 4yo daughter
Nerida, who was dx last year with PDD-NOS (an ASD). We live in Melbourne, Australia.
I work in disabilities, as a nurse, and my husband, Vince is a storeman.
Nerida is a gorgeous little girl, and her development seemed right on track until about 18 months of age, when she suddenly lost her language skills. She could no longer talk, copy us, or show interest in anything much unless it was "The Wiggles".
She would not respond to our voices, directions - she also became hyperactive, running everywhere, climbing, and would not focus or concentrate on any task.
After months of carting her from one end of Melbourne to the other for appointments, we finally had her assessed at the Austin Hospital, where they came up with the dx mentioned above.
Nerida has been in Early Intervention for approx. 18 months, and is also in her 2nd yr of speech therapy. She attends a mainstream kinder 3 days a week, and has an aide there.
Would love to hear from anyone in similar situation!
Bye for now,
:)
