Hi Everyone,
My son is yet agn going out of district for them to perform this test on them. I can soooo see what thsi is coming too-and Im getting very nervous abt tomorrow. OUtside Childrens hospital diagnosed Bailey with PDD-NOS, all school tests show some form of Autism-the Aspergers one was off the charts-scoring HIGHLY LIKELY???
Yet when I mention an autism consultant and para-the district gets involved and now this test. They are even contracting outside the district for this tomorrow????? I KNOW they want to get ride of the Autism label-that i fought soooo hard for. What do I do if this test comes back as no ASD?? What if my son has one of his "good" days" LOLOL
Can they use this one test to get rid of the label-THEY-dont want? What do I do if they say welll.. he showed no signs of ASD?
I called Childrens and the doc said he was confident that he woudl be scored PDD-NOS or LOWER-as the services and supports took them so long to qualify him for!!!! UGH!!! I am sooo torked, because I know what they are doing-
Just wanted to know what I should do in case this all runs down hill-like I suspect it will???!!!
Any thoughst or suggestions woudl be much appreciated:)
Love ya,
Tammy

Hello Tammy,
My oldest son Jacob went through the same kind of process. Well I got an autism diagnosis from the SSI doctors. So he was able to get RSP help from the school district. My advice is stick to your guns, tell them ( the team your meeting with) what your child needs. Especially express what your childs actions are and they are not typical. I fought hard for Jacobs educational needs and it has been very worth every effort. I know it can be draining but the educators should take everything into consideration. Good luck, take care.

Thanks guys for the replies-:)
All they would tell me after the test was that he did well???LOLOL -is this good or bad?? I haven't a clue???LOLOLThen something abt a bubble machine.... They wouldnt tell me anything???:(And trying to get any info out of Bailey-well thats not going to happen-LOLOL;)
They said it would prob take a month or so for all the results to get compiled???Is that the normal time frame??
I was thinking the whole ride home how I so much more liked going outside the school for the testing-where things were actually explained to me-not behind my back like I know the district is going to do. I know they are all going to get together and talk abt it. Then when they call me to come to the meeting-they will have had all this time to think abt things and I will just be getting the info....sigh....I just dont like how since they are performing the test they have the rights to see it first I guess is what is bugging me. Man-I should have just had Childrens do it like they suggested when I called them..sigh...O-well :(
They said they would call me when the results were in and we would all get together-but I know they will have gotten together before that?Do I have a right to see the test results before the meeting-so its not just sprung at me? BUt then agn i d prob need someone to interpret it for me-eh? LOLOL
Owell-just have to wait and see I guess-but I REALLY hate this"no worries Tammy" -have to keep telling myself this :) LOLOLOL
Love you all,
Tammy

update-
Well I was completely thrown for a loop at this meeting :(
The ADOS came back with a 1, yes you read that right-a 1!!! You could just see the district lady smirking-ugh! The ADI-R test came back Autsim all over the place.
We had the "meeting" and they sprang"we have this other school" deal-even without the spec ed teacher present!!!!NO members from the IEP team there etc???
I was totally shocked to say the least. Went home talked to dh-he thinks this "school" is a dumping ground for behavior problem kids etc....so he was "no way"Thsi si what the district thinks -ist a behavior problem.ugh!
I just dont get that ADOS test-the tester had alot of experiance with asd kids and the district lady actually had the gaul to tell me"the tester said this child was sooo not on the spectrum-more so than any other child I have tested before."UGH-I just dont get that AT ALL.
How can all the other test that the school performed and the MD , PH.D child psychiatrist at a Childrens Hospital come back with the same thing, yet this ADOS-nill???
I can just see another year going by fighting to keep this label for my son. Yes, it shouldnt matter what the label is -right, yet they wont provide services in this school without it-kwim?
I called the principle and he totally flip flopped his decision then the one he had at the meeting. Said that they shouldnt have even talked abt this other placement as last year they didnt do enough for my son(this was after he talked with the district behavior specialist, and spec ed teacher called and was HIGHLY upset-hes the case manager and he wasnt even informed!!!!)
UGh-any advice on this?
Love ya,
Tammy
