Questions from a teacher

Hello,
I am a teacher of young children with Autism. I currently have one child who bites and I have given him a bite stick and tried redirection. Does anyone have any ideas?? Help!!!

I am assuming the bite stick is like the chewy tube I used with my daughter.

Under what conditions is he biting? Is he frustrated, bored, anxious, what?

Does he have speech therapy with oral motor stimulation? Maybe he needs more?

I would first use a social story (search Carol Gray for good examples).
My son used a chewy tube for years and still does from time to time. He does crave oral stimulation and his sensory diet developed by the OT includes crunchy and chewy food items.
